Seattle's World War II Newborns

This is a generous and touching feature of a February 1944 issue of the Seattle Times. The paper printed these photos of Seattle servicemen's wives with their newborns, specifically so that the families could clip the photos from the paper to mail to the soldiers. It was mentioned that mailing actual photographs was difficult, so sending thin newsprint clippings was much easier. None of the 6 soldiers and sailors here had seen their children yet. 4 of the men were serving in the Pacific and 2 were in Europe.

Perhaps one of these men or their children are familiar to you?

Frank Mitchell lived until 2002 and his wife Marion survived him until 2005. Both are buried in Tahoma National cemetery.

George Kozel lived until 2006. His wife Beatrice passed away in 2009 and the baby in the photo, George, lived until 2018.

George Bradly Dalton, Navy officer and graduate of the University of Washington lived until 2005, surviving his wife, Helen, who passed in 1986. Their daughter Patricia is still around as best I can determine. George and Helen are buried in Seattle's Cavalry cemetery.

Karold Romberger lived until 2002 and his wife Winifred until 2020. He is interred at Tahoma National Cemetery. Their daughter, Diane, in the photo is still in the Seattle area, as best I can determine at this writing.

Percy H Dunkle died at age 96 in 2003. Details on William Lee Brown have been a little bit elusive. Can anyone add some detail about him?
